Rose Hip & Hibiscus Vitamin C Elixir
Brighter than a supplement, prettier than a pill.
A tart, jewel-red elixir packed with naturally occurring vitamin C from rose hips and hibiscus. Brighter than a supplement, prettier than a pill.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp dried rose hips (crushed)
- 2 tbsp dried hibiscus flowers
- 1 tsp raw honey (to taste)
- 1/4 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cups filtered water
- Optional: squeeze of fresh orange juice
Instructions
- 1
Bring filtered water to just below a boil (around 195°F / 90°C) — avoid full boiling, which degrades vitamin C.
- 2
Add crushed rose hips and hibiscus flowers to a small pot or French press.
- 3
Pour the hot water over the herbs and steep for 10 minutes.
- 4
Strain into a mug or glass through a fine mesh strainer.
- 5
Stir in raw honey and grated ginger while still warm.
- 6
Add a squeeze of fresh orange juice if you like an extra citrus lift.
- 7
Sip warm or pour over ice for a cold brew version.
Pro Tip
Store any extra in the fridge for up to 48 hours — it intensifies in flavor overnight. The deep ruby-red color also makes this a beautiful iced drink and a crowd-pleaser served in a mason jar.
